LeBron James’ Son Bronny, 16, Follows In Dad’s With FaZe Clan Members

Bronny James and some of his fellow FaZe Clan members grace the cover of a new ‘Sports Illustrated’ issue that’s dedicated to e-sports and gaming. LeBron James is no longer the only member of his family to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated! The NBA star’s 16-year-old son, LeBron “Bronny” James Jr., is on the front of the magazine’s latest issue. Bronny landed on the cover due to his involvement with FaZe Clan, a professional e-sports organization. The teenager joined the organization in summer 2020, and appears on the cover alongside fellow FaZe Clan athlete, Kyler Murray, a 23-year-old football quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals. SALTER/SPORTS ILLUSTRATED) In addition to the two athletes, three of FaZe Clan’s most popular gamers — Nickmercs, Swagg Rug and Temperr are also on the cover. While some members of FaZe Clan are involved in professional gaming tournaments, there are plenty of people who join for the “non competitive allures of sports and e-sports, like community, entertainment, personality and endless hours of digital and social content,” according to the SI article. Being in FaZe Clan allows athletes like Bronny and Kyle to have some legitimacy in the gaming world, while being able to further extend their brand to new audiences. SALTER/SPORTS ILLUSTRATED) The article accompanying Bronny’s Sports Illustrated cover explains the growth of FaZe Clan over the last ten years. The rising basketball star is far from the only athlete who’s involved in the group, either. Ben Simmons has been following FaZe Clan for more than a decade, and basketball stars like Devin Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns are both well-known athlete gamers. Bronny James looked poised and confident in his […]

Phillies Phanatic Mascot’s New Look Doesn’t Seem Very

Getty The Philadelphia Phillies debuted a new look for their beloved mascot, the Phanatic, this weekend — but in very anticlimactic fashion … he appears to have not changed very much. The lovable, green monster furball trotted out onto the field Sunday ahead of the team’s game against the Pirates in Clearwater, FL — where they’re hosting their Spring Training home opener. The buzz was that the costume would look a bit different … for legal reasons. First look at the “evolved” Phillie Phanatic. 👀 📷: @NBCSPhilly #Phillies pic.twitter.com/UjhS0pvISv — Matt Rappa (@mattrappasports) February 23, 2020@mattrappasports Long story short … Phillies brass are in the middle of this legal sitch with the original creators of the Phanatic’s design, Bonnie Erickson and Wayde Harrison, who drew up what fans have come to enjoy for decades now. Well, the rights expire this summer … and the two designers want their fair cut in order to have the mascot continue being used by the team. New look, same crazy Phanatic. This is what they came up with, and frankly … kinda the same, no? @ 1st Glance: L-Old, R-New 1. Lighter Green 2. Hands free from fur3. Blue around eyes, Lighter & more of it 4. Stars outline Eyes 5. LeBron James Cracks ‘Space Jam 2’ Joke After Losing In

For the first time in his NBA playoff career, LeBron James lost in the first round — but that didn’t stop him from making jokes in his post-game press conference. After a 113-100 loss to the Phoenix Suns on June 3, the Los Angeles Lakers are officially out of the NBA Playoffs. The team took their opponents to Game 6, but were unable to secure the victory. This means that LeBron James is officially out of championship contention. It’s also the first time that he made the playoffs but didn’t get past the first round in his 18-year NBA career (there were just three seasons where LeBron didn’t make the playoffs at all). Despite this shocking elimination, LeBron seemed to be in decent spirits at the post-game press conference. In fact, he even cracked a joke to end the Q&A session! When asked if he’d be appearing at the Olympic Games later this summer, LeBron responded, “I think I’m going to be playing for the Tune Squad this summer instead of the Olympics.” Of course, he’s referring to his upcoming role in Space Jam 2, which will be released on July 16. “I think that’s what I’m going to focus on — trying to beat the Monstars, or the Goon Squad as we call them out,” he added. “Didn’t have much success against the Suns, so I’m gearing my attention toward the Goon Squad in July.” Although he started out by making his statement with a straight face, LeBron couldn’t help but crack a smile by the end, too. Devin  had a huge game for the Suns, despite fan fears of the “Kardashian Curse” amidst his relationship with Kendall Jenner, who […]

Kim Kardashian Reveals She Failed The ‘Baby Bar’ Law Give Up’

In this new ‘KUWTK’ clip, Kim Kardashian is left super disappointed after getting the results of her baby bar exam, which she spent six weeks cramming for. Kim Kardashian did not pass her first law school exam, the baby bar, which she took during summer 2020. In a preview for the May 27 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim revealed her unfortunate news to her sisters, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian. She earned a 474 on the test, but needed a 560 to pass. “If you do law school the way that I’m doing it, it’s a four year program instead of your typical three-year program,” Kim revealed. “After one year you have to take the baby bar. This one is actually harder, I hear, than the official bar. I spent six weeks straight, 10 to 12 hours a day, studying. It was so important for me to take this and to not pass….it gets your spirits down and makes you want to give up.” Kim Kardashian out and about in a yellow dress. (SplashNews) Kourtney and Khloe offered their sister some encouragement, and assured her that their late father, who was a lawyer would be “really proud” of Kim for even getting this far. “What pisses me off is the fact that I spent all that time away from my kids,” Kim explained. “I can’t do it again. I don’t have time to do the next test. It’s in November.” The KUWTK clip was filmed in mid-October, so there wasn’t much time for Kim to make her decision about whether or not she wanted to sign up for the test again. “I’m filming the end of our show, which is so emotional,” she said. “I have every birthday under the sun. It’s my 40th birthday and I planned this whole trip. […]

Floyd Mayweather Charges At Jake Paul After YouTube Star Kill You’ — Watch

‘Got your hat!,’ Jake Paul gleefully exclaimed as he stole Floyd Mayweather’s hat at a press conference. The resulting fight allegedly left Jake with a ‘clean shot’ on his eye (not from Floyd, though). Floyd Mayweather may be facing off against Logan Paul on June 6, but the undefeated boxer almost brawled with a different Paul: Logan’s brother Jake. The showdown happened at a press conference for Floyd and Logan’s upcoming exhibition match at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida on May 6. While Floyd and Logan had a witty battle of words on a stage at the event, the mood wasn’t so playful when Floyd and Jake got in one another’s faces off-stage. The catalyst? Jake stole Floyd’s hat. “Let’s make it happen, yes sir, don’t be calling Al Haymon [Floyd’s advisor], let’s make it happen, for one night,” Jake told Floyd in the video above, seemingly in an attempt to badger the boxer into doing their own fight (Jake is now a professional boxer too, like his brother). Then, Jake swiped the hat right off Floyd’s head and yelled, “Got your hat!” As expected, that didn’t end well. Floyd instantly charged for Jake — making the surrounding crowd let out a collective “ooooooo” — while Jake ran away, hat in hand. Meanwhile, farther back in the crowd, Logan appeared to be going after Floyd and his brother (but was held back by the people surrounding him). Meanwhile, Jake treated this like a game of cat and mouse as he happily called out, “Let’s go baby! Got your hat! Got your hat!” Floyd didn’t think this was as funny. “Don’t you ever disrespect me like that…Don’t play with me, I ain’t never did nothing to you…don’t disrespect me,” he told Jake, before going after him again. The video […]

Simone Biles Pulls Off Impossible Yurchenko Double

One of the greatest athletes of all time just proved WHY she’s the GOAT. Simone Biles landed a ‘challenging’ and dangerous move – and she made it look easy! If this is what Simone Biles has up her (hypothetical) sleeves, the competition should just go home. While practicing for her return to gymnastics at Saturday’s U.S. Classic, Simone, 24, landed the Yurchenko double pike not once but twice. The move, which gets its name from retired Russian gymnastics champion Natalia Yurchenko, has never been attempted by a female competitor in competition – and Simone just did it with ease. Only male gymnasts have been able to land it in the past. So, if she busts it out during the U.S. Classic, it will be another record broken, another moment of history being made, and another reason to argue why Simone is the greatest of all time. “I just got a little nervous on the landing,” Simone told coach Laurent Landi. Afterward, in a media call, Simone said she gave herself a pep talk before the vault, per NBC Sports. “I was like, ‘It’s ok, I’ve done this so many times, I’ve been doing this for months now,’” she said. She also said that she feels “really good going into tomorrow.” While watching Simone perform the Yurchenko double pike, it might be hard to break down why it’s so impressive — and why it’s so dangerous. The “Yurchenko” describes the vault’s entry, according to the comprehensive breakdown by the Washington Post. In a Yurchenko, a gymnast “does a round-off onto the springboard, then a back handspring onto the vault.” Once the competitor hits the vault, they push off into the air and begin a single flip. Simone and other top vaulters do a Yurchenko with a two-and-a-half twist, which the Post […]

Megan Rapinoe Explains How Equal Pay ‘Changes The Valued In Sports

USWNT icon Megan Rapinoe shared how fighting for equal pay is more than just making sure women get paid better. With the chants of “Equal Pay” echoing through New York City as the US Women’s National Team celebrated their 2019 World Cup, Megan Rapinoe thought that US Soccer would finally relent and pay the women what they’re worth. “I really did, to be honest,” she said in a profile in Harper’s Bazaar. However, the soccer organization fought back in ways that were “cartoonishly misogynistic,” per Harper’s. That only emboldened Megan, 35, and the rest of the team, and she explained how this fight is more than just about bank accounts: it’s about perception. Money is the way our society shows people, especially in sports, how we value them,” she said. (Ryan McGinley) “We know exactly what’s in a contract every time a man signs it,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar. “We never know what women make. Why is it? Because they’re not something to be proud of. We need to change that narrative.” The USWNT is hopeful about negotiating a new fair collective bargaining agreement before the current one expires by the end of the year, per Harper’s, but the issue of back pay is still in question. U.S. Soccer claims it would bankrupt them to pay the team, but Megan doesn’t care. “I’m sorry that you practiced gender discrimination and didn’t budget that in,” she said. “But they’re going to need to reallocate.” U.S. Soccer was forced to recalibrate in March 2020 after the federation used sexist and demeaning language in a legal filing against the U.S. women’s lawsuit over equal pay. The organization argued that there was “indisputable ‘science’” that women lacked the “skill” of male players, and that “the job of a MNT player carries more responsibility within […]

Kings Of Leon’s Performance Of ‘Use Somebody’ At NFL Twitter

Kings Of Leon kicked off the 2021 NFL Draft to much controversy. Fans asked if it was ‘2008,’ while others were getting moody that the band ‘played too long’ and thus delayed the first pick. Tough crowd. Kings Of Leon opened the 2021 NFL Draft in Cleveland with a grand performance, but not everyone appreciated this throwback to the late aughts — or how long it took. While the Grammy-nominated band continues to put out new music — in fact, they just released a new album in 2021 — the four-member band made up of brothers Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill and cousin Matthew Followill is primarily known for their late-2000’s hits like “Use Somebody.” Ironically, which is what they performed at the draft, which is partially why fans thought the band was an odd choice for an event in which many college football stars (AKA, Gen Z athletes) are moving up to the NFL. “Kings of Leon performing “Use Somebody” at the #NFLDraft. Is it 2008?,” one fan asked on Twitter, while another viewer tweeted, “Kings of Leon kicking off tonight’s 2021 NFL draft coverage with their 2008 smash hit ‘Use Somebody’ is a perfect reminder of how in touch the league is with their fans.” Meanwhile, other fans didn’t take issue with who was on the NFL stage. They did take issue with the fact that the Kings Of Leon’s performance went past 8 p.m. ET — which is when the draft was scheduled to begin. “Less Kings of Leon, more draft picks, please,” ESPN reporter Courtney R. DraftScout tweeted, while others posted GIFs of Judge Judy impatiently tapping her wristwatch. About 20 or so minutes past 8 p.m., fans finally got to watch as the Jackson Jaguars, who had No. 1 pick in the draft, select Trevor Lawrence […]

Brett Favre Says Andy Reid’s A Hall of Famer, ‘Certainly

Play video contentExclusive TMZSports.com Andy Reid could punch his ticket to Canton this weekend … so says Brett Favre, who tells TMZ Sports the Chiefs coach is “certainly” a Hall of Famer with an SB win Sunday. “He’s one of the great guys and definitely a Hall of Fame coach,” Favre says. “Certainly, if he wins this game.” Of course, Favre’s biased … Reid was Brett’s QB coach with the Packers in 1997 and 1998 — but Favre clearly thinks the guy is a legendary head man regardless. “Wherever he’s gone, he’s won,” Favre says. “That’s hard to do.” As for the one criticism of Reid — aka his lack of a Super Bowl victory — Favre says that shouldn’t weigh in when it comes to people’s opinions of him. And, why? Favre says Reid’s like Dan Marino and Jim Kelly — who are both considered legends, despite never locking up a Super Bowl win. Regardless, Favre says he’ll still go to bat for the coach no matter what happens in Miami. “I don’t think his legacy is solidified by winning this — I think it’s already solidified,” Favre says. “This just adds to it.”
