Best Film: Homebound

The top prize did not go to Dhurandhar. Neeraj Ghaywan's Homebound won Best Film. The film tells a story of friendship. Quiet. Emotional. Critically adored.

It faced tough competition. Chhaava. Dhadak 2. Haq. Saiyaara. Sitaare Zameen Par. Superboys of Malegaon. Homebound also won two other awards.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female): Shalini Vatsa 

Best Film Writing (Story and Screenplay): Basharat Peer, Neeraj Ghaywan, Sumit Roy 

Three wins total. A respectable haul for a smaller film going up against a giant.

Acting Winners: Ranveer and Yami

Ranveer Singh won Best Actor for Dhurandhar. 

He beat Vicky Kaushal (Chhaava), Siddhant Chaturvedi (Dhadak 2), Vishal Jethwa and Ishaan Khatter (both Homebound), Manoj Bajpayee (Jugnuma: The Fable), and Adarsh Gourav (Superboys of Malegaon).

The OTT categories need more of them. Streaming produces good work. Stolen. Mrs. Raat Akeli Hai. These films deserve recognition alongside theatrical releases.

One complaint. No lifetime achievement award this year. The ceremony skipped it. Odd choice.
