‘Black Adam’: The Rock’s First DC

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson already looks like a superhero – and he finally gets to play one in ‘Black Adam.’ Here’s what we know about this upcoming DC movie. What happens when you take someone with all the powers of Superman – and you strip away the “truth, justice, and the American Way?” What if that being of superhuman size and strength is played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson? And what if he’s given a film where he lays the smackdown on some of the most beloved heroes in DC Comics history? Then, you have Black Adam, the upcoming spin-off from 2019’s Shazam!. But, you don’t need to dig through the near 80-year(!) history of the character to watch the movie. For those who don’t know who Black Adam is, or when the movie is coming out, or who else involved, don’t worry. HollywoodLife has the details you need to know right here. Who is Black Adam? Dwayne Johnson poses for the media as he arrives for the world premiere of the film ‘Jumanji: Next Level’ in 2019 (Shutterstock) ORIGIN: In short, and in the best way to explain this to anyone who doesn’t know comics, Black Adam is the “evil” version of Shazam, Zachary Levi’s character from 2019’s Shazam. However, both Black Adam and Shazam originate from comics published in the 1940s. “One of the world’s foremost wielders of magic, Black Adam has been both hero and villain over a life that’s spanned thousands of years,” reads the character’s official bio on the DC Comics website. Black Adam was the first champion picked by the wizard Shazam – not to be confused with the caped superhero Shazam – to be a “magically empowered hero.” “Teth-Adam, or ‘Mighty Adam,’ began as a hero of humanity, but then allowed his power […]

No Lawsuits Filed in Kevin Hart Car Crash

Exclusive TMZ.com Kevin Hart has not filed a lawsuit in the wake of his near-fatal car crash.  He hasn’t been sued either.  And the driver and passenger haven’t sued or been sued either.  In other words, not a single lawsuit has been filed in what everyone thought would be a flurry of legal action. TMZ broke the story, Kevin was in the front passenger seat last September when his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda crashed into an embankment in Malibu. Kevin, the driver and the driver’s fiancee were all hospitalized and Kevin required spinal surgery. Investigators concluded no one was wearing a seat belt and there were no safety harnesses in the car. Law enforcement says the driver was at fault, he allegedly gunned the vehicle’s 720-HP engine and lost control. As we reported, everyone immediately lawyered up, but then there was silence. It seemed almost certain the driver would get sued, and Kevin as well since he was the owner of the car and owners are responsible when they allow someone to take the wheel and their negligence causes an accident. There was also talk the company that customized the car would be sued since there were no safety harnesses in the vehicle. The fact is though, since no one even had a seat belt on, the harness would have gone unused and done no good. Our sources also say no money has changed hands as part of a settlement. In other words, when it comes to lawsuits resulting from the crash … crickets. Play video content Now it’s true … everyone involved has 3 years to file a lawsuit, so it could still happen, but typically these suits are filed pretty quickly. Getty As for Kevin, we’re told he continues to undergo physical therapy and he hits the gym regularly. […]

Joaquin Phoenix Saves Mama Cow and Her Calf After Oscars

Exclusive Joaquin Phoenix didn’t wait long to walk the walk after mentioning the plight of mother cows and their babies in his Best Actor speech at the Academy Awards … and a mama and her calf are living happily together because of it. The “Joker” star visited a slaughterhouse run by Manning Beef in Pico Rivera, CA the day after the Oscars to have a sit-down talk with Anthony Di Maria, president and CEO of the company … and it led to something remarkable. Though the 2 butted heads over the nature of the industry, Phoenix and Di Maria found some common ground … and the actor helped LA Animal Save liberate a mother cow and her newborn calf, a daughter. Joaquin’s seen carrying the baby cow away from the holding area where she was born and onto a trailer with her mom. The bovine family will now be able to live and grow together at a Farm Sanctuary location in northern L.A. County … and they now have names. Phoenix named the mama cow, Liberty, and the calf, Indigo. Joaquin says … “I never thought I’d find friendship in a slaughterhouse, but meeting Anthony and opening my heart to his, I realize we might have more in common than we do differences. Without his act of kindness, Liberty and her baby calf, Indigo, would have met a terrible demise.” He adds that he and animal rights activists like him will continue to “fight for the liberation of all animals who suffer in these oppressive systems” … but he’s happy about this victory. Liberty and Indigo are the fifth set of mother and child cows saved by LA Animal Save … but they’re aiming for many more. Play video content Jane Unchained News This isn’t a first for Phoenix either. Britney Spears Almost Starred In ‘The Notebook’ With Claims

Not only did Britney Spears audition for ‘The Notebook,’ but it was apparently a ‘close call’ as she competed for the role of Allie against Rachel McAdams. Britney wasn’t the only famous name who did a screen test, either! While it was already known that Britney Spears did a screen test with Ryan Gosling for The Notebook, veteran casting director Matthew Barry is now saying that it was actually a “close call” when it came to the pop star landing the lead role of Allie Hamilton. Of course, that role went to Rachel McAdams because she “aced the audition” despite being a relatively unknown name at the time, according to Daily Mail‘s interview with Matthew. Regardless, the casting director shared a photo of Britney and Ryan beaming at their screen test more than 15 years ago — you can see it here! Britney wasn’t the only star in running to play Allie opposite of Ryan’s Noah. At first, the studio allegedly wanted Underworld star Kate Beckinsale for the role, but “there wasn’t chemistry,” the casting director claimed. Allie’s role wasn’t the only one up for debate, either! Rachel McAdams (left) and Ryan Gosling (right) are pictured here in the romantic drama film, The Notebook, which came out in 2004 and was based on Nicholas Sparks’ novel of the same name. [Shutterstock/Everett Collection] Matthew also said that they “considered” Hayden Christensen (AKA, Anakin Skywalker) for The Notebook. “We went to the opening of whatever Star Wars episode he was in, but we left after 20 minutes,” Matthew admitted to Daily Mail. Bradley Cooper was also considered for a role (specifically, to play Allie’s fiancé, Captain Lon Hammond Jr.). Matthew said he previously auditioned Bradley for a role in the 2002 thriller John Q., and found the actor to be “strange and intense” with a “wicked sense […]

‘Screwball’ Director Billy Corben Mulling Movie About

Play video contentExclusive TMZSports.com Billy Corben could have ANOTHER big baseball-themed documentary coming our way … because the man behind “Screwball” is considering taking on the Houston Astros scandal. “Screwball” was a massive success for Corben — he used child actors to tell the unbelievable story about Alex Rodriguez and MLB’s Biogenesis scandal. Now, with MLB in the midst of ANOTHER embarrassing controversy, Corben says he’s VERY intrigued about the possibility of a “Screwball 2.” “It’s writing itself as we speak right now,” Corben tells TMZ Sports … “And central to that story, as he was to the Biogenesis scandal and the whole A-Rod mess, is Rob Manfred.” As Corben points out … Manfred was MLB’s lead investigator into the Biogenesis scandal — and now as MLB Commissioner, he’s taking a lot of heat for the way he’s handling those cheating ass Astros. What concerns Corben about the Astros cheating scandal is the message it’s sending to kids … that you need to lie, cheat and steal to become successful in baseball. FYI, Corben is one of the TOP guys in Hollywood when it comes to docs — he’s made huge hits like “Cocaine Cowboys” and did ESPN’s 30 for 30 on “The U.” Stay tuned …

A significant amount of sparklers and glitter were evident during the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, which merged both virtual and in-person elements to raise awareness of the ongoing pandemic. ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ Production Halted in Italy

Breaking News Getty Nothing can stop Ethan Hunt … except the coronavirus. That’s right … Tom Cruise and co. are gonna be sent packing from Italy after Paramount announced Monday they were putting a pause on production for their latest installment in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise — and it’s all because of the worldwide outbreak. The studio says, “Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew, and efforts of the local Venetian government to halt public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three week shoot in Venice, the scheduled first leg of an extensive production for ‘Mission: Impossible 7.” As you might’ve noticed in the many ‘MI’ sequels — including this last one — they shoot all over the world … especially Europe. Coronavirus has already reportedly affected a couple hundred or so people in Italy alone, so Paramount clearly isn’t taking any chances. They continued, “During this hiatus we want to be mindful of the concerns of the crew and are allowing them to return home until production starts. We will continue to monitor this situation, and work alongside health and government officials as it evolves.” In other words … Paramount’s gonna be shipping everyone out there back home, including possibly to the States — which probably won’t make our President all that happy. The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me! — Donald J. Chainsaw in ‘Summer School’ ‘Memba Him?!

Illinois-local Dean Cameron (real name Dean Eikleberry) was only 25 years old when he landed the super-stoney roll of the school flunky and movie lover, Francis “Chainsaw” Gremp — who earns a screening of “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” for the class — in the classic 1987 class comedy, “Summer School.” Dean Cameron was cast alongside some other stellar young actors including Mark Harmon as the lax teacher, Freddy Shoop … and Kirstie Alley as the hot teacher next door Ms. Robin Bishop. Cameron was also known for his small-screen surfer character, Jeff Spicoli, on the one (and only) season of the 1986 TV series “Fast Times.” Guess what he looks like now in his late 50s!
